How To -- Questions and Answers

How do I set the default style for new events?

There are two types of events, so you'll need to set the default for each.

First -- Timed Events -- Create a timed event and set it the way you want it. Then select the event (not the text). Now go to the bottom of the Format menu. Note that you can set this default for just this calendar or for all documents (future calendars).

Second -- All Day Events -- Create an All Day Event and .... (Same procedure as for Timed Events.)

Both types -- You can make the default the same or different for the two types of events. A default setting includes font, font size, font color*, font style, frame, frame width, frame color, fill color, etc. A picture in the event will also become part of the default, but not a picture in the event text.

What appearances that can be set are those displayed on the page of Inspector shown below. In addition you can set font, font size and font style by using Command-T. Or, put a picture into an event using the Picture tab shown below.

A default can be set for the current calendar file or all future calendar files. A default setting will not "take" for a future calendar if a conflicting setting is in effect.

* If more than one color is used, only the color of the first letter of text is used as the default.
